Johannesburg - Recent protests against poor service delivery could have been averted had inflatable castles there been "serious" intervention, the SA Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu) said on Monday.
Spokesperson
Tahir Sema said to achieve stability in South Africa, service delivery
needed to be improved to meet the needs of the people. Serious
intervention was needed to address the many problems facing the people,
he said in a statement.
Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, and the Mpumalanga township of gemstone jewelry

of poor service delivery and demanding the resignation of senior
municipal and government officials.
The union on Monday said it
had been monitoring the development and performance of municipalities
and found an increase in corruption in the provision of basic services

Sema said municipalities needed adequate funding, which should go directly to municipalities and not provincial government, proper and meaningful consultation with communities, monitoring mechanisms, and infrastructural development.

Some of these included lack of proper water and sanitation facilities, lack of training of ordinary workers, and the privatisation of basic services.
"Samwu commits itself to contribute to any proper and meaningful process that will ensure that service delivery is improved in South Africa."
The union said corruption was also adversely affecting service delivery.
"It is against this background that we believe that a lack of cultured pearl jewelry serious intervention is the chief cause of the recent community protests which could have been averted," Sema said.

Telkom sold its 75% stake

Johannesburg - Beleaguered pay-TV group Super5Media, formerly known as
Telkom Media, is still planning to launch in 2010 despite recent
reports about retrenchments, a dispute with the regulator and
shareholder upheavals.
Telkom Media received a pay-TV licence in
August 2008. It planned to offer subscription-based television services
via satellite, broadband networks and the internet. At the time,
Fin24.com reported that freshwater pearl sets Telkom's initial estimates said it budgeted on signing up at least 400 000 subscribers within 10 years.
However,
Telkom sold its 75% stake in the company to China's Shenzhen Media in
April, after which the name change took place. The sale has irked the
Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa). The
regulator is now investigating whether all conditions were met before
it will issue Super5Media with a licence.

Responding
to the report, Super5Media spokesperson Chris van Zyl said he is unsure

"Telkom SA indicated last year it wanted to sell Telkom Media. In April this year a buyer, Shenzhen Media, bought the wholesale coral jewelry

However, the minority shareholders and Icasa are more worried about the foreign ownership aspect than the actual sale.
Aspiring pay-TV competitor On Digital Media (ODM) also chipped in inflatable tent
with a written response to Icasa in August, saying Super5Media did not
follow the required process regarding its change in ownership.
However, Van Zyl said all the requirements were met.
"We
have met all Icasa's requirements regarding the notification of the
sale and transfer of shares in terms of a sales agreement between
Telkom SA and Shenzhen Media," he said. "We are of the opinion that we
have complied with all regulations in terms of the transaction and
therefore have a licence to broadcast."
ODM and Icasa have also raised concerns around the foreign ownership aspect than cheap pearl jewelry the actual sale.
However,
van Zyl said that as per broadcast regulations, the foreign ownership
component in Super5Media is not more than 20%. This is reflected in the
ownership of Shenzhen Media which comprises a 20% stake by Sino-Africa
DG and Imbani Media (a local telecommunications company).
Super5Media announced last week it was retrenching about 50% of cultured pearl jewelry
its staff as a result of ongoing uncertainty over its network licence,
but Van Zyl said the company still plans to launch services early in
2010.

Johannesburg - An 8-year-old boy was found dead on the roof of the
Small Street Mall on Monday after apparently falling from the Kine
Centre, Johannesburg emergency management services said.
The Grade 3 pupil from Finetown in Ennerdale was thought tofreshwater pearl necklace have fallen after a church service that was held on the 16th floor of the building, spokesperson Percy Morokane said.
He had attended the church service with his aunt, 5-year-old sister and another girl, aged 4, his father told rescue workers.
"It
is alleged that during the service, the three children requested their

Morokane said.
